Can You Use Floor Screed Over An Underfloor Heating Installation?

Yes! Screeds are the preferred medium for UFH pipes as the material excels at absorbing and radiating warmth, becoming an integral part of the heating process. Some screeds can be used to significantly enhance the overall performance of your underfloor heating and the environmental impact of your floor.

What type of floor screeding should I have in my new house/extension?

Sand & cement screeds are the recommended floor screeds for domestic use, as cost implications can be quite high for small areas done by flowing screed.

Can I speed up the drying time of the screed?

Yes the screed could be ready to receive a floor finish as quickly as 48hours, this needs to be discussed prior to work commencing as there are many different cements / additives we can use to achieve this.

I'd like underfloor heating, is screed compatible?

Yes. Screed is the ideal flooring solution for underfloor heating; the screed protects the heating pipes and retains the heat for longer making it more efficient to use.

Can screed be pumped?

The minimum depth should be 70mm of screed.

Floor screed requires little to no care after installation. Providing screed is installed correctly, there shouldn’t be any maintenance required.
